Monkey Monday - New Weekly Giveaway Feature

While many workplaces have fun things going on every Friday (or what they think of as fun, like "Casual Friday" where you can wear jeans instead of slacks) - I have a feeling that it's really on Monday when most of you could use a little cheer-me-up!

My vision for Monkey Mondays is that it will be a little silly, humorous, scent-related post, with anecdotes that you could share. We can all use a good laugh from time to time ;-)
And - to make it even funner, I'll also host a giveaway here every Monday, starting today!

Since Valentine's is just a day away, I'd like to hear from you what your favourite aphrodisiacs are, and why. You can be as silly or as forthcoming as you'd like in sharing your aphrodisiac anecdotes. We all like to think of aphrodisiacs as this irresistible substance that will make us irresistible to the opposite (or same) sex, leaving trails of love-victims along our wake.

We've been discussing aphrodisiacs pretty much non-stop here in the past three weeks or so in the "Aprhrodisiac of the Day" series, as well as previous years' tea parties and other blog features and newsletters on the topic. And although they admittedly work on a much more safe and subtle level, it would be nice to hear stories from you about how a fragrant aphrodisiac either improved your love life - or made someone else's life completely miserable in the presence of your irresistible aphrod-packed potion.

The winner will receive:
1) Gabriel's Aunt 2oz Chocolate Bar Candle
2) Film Noir mini
3) Valentine's Greeting Card from Nikki & I that has 2 aphrodisiac recipes!
4) A pinch of my secret love potion: the Ras El Hanout spice that I've hand-blended myself, including many rare ingredients, in just the exact right proportions...

P.s. For all I care, you can make up the story...

I love the Monkey Monday idea!

As far a scents that are aphrodisiac for me, I have to go with the odd combination of Dove soap, Gaultier's Le Male, and a hint of cigarrette smoke. I know its a strange mix, but that blend of scents form a very happy scent memory of my partner when we first started dating. Luckily he has since quit smoking.

For naturals, I like the concept of ginger and cardamom co2. I don't know what base would best suit that pair, but I can definitely see the aphrodisiac potential in that blend, especially after reading your blogs on them in the Aprhodisiac of the Day series.

Hope you have a happy Valentines Day!

Michael

Am I too late to enter? Here goes, anyway:
My favourite is probably chilli. It reminds me of when I was a teenager and worked in the pet department of a big store - we had a very cute amazonian green parrot, quite young and still fluffy, who was everyone's favourite, and who liked to stick his beak out through he bars of his cage to get kisses from all the many women who worked there. He used to guzzle chillis - his favourite snack - and get them all over his beak, so I used to find my mouth would be burning up after I'd kissed him. I'm not sure if this story counts, because it was the parrot who was irresistible, not me, so if anyone deserves to win, it's him - but I don't know his current address, and I don't know if he likes perfume, anyway.
And - this is actually true - I think of him quite often, although it's more than a decade since I last saw him, and eating hot chillis still reminds me of the scent of birdseed mixed with animal bedding, rabbits, mice, chinchilla and everything that goes along with that...

Monkey Monday - I love me some goofy alliteration!

Black Cashmere is the fragrance that works for my husband. True story (honest, not making this up!): We were at Holt Renfrew, my lovely other half tagging along while I smelled and applied on myself more than half a dozen things. One of the frags was Black Cashmere, and he didn't say much when he smelled it on me in the store. So I was surprised and delighted when we got down to a deserted parkade and he said, "Can I smell the Black Cashmere again?" Yeah. There was growling and, well, mind-your-own-business. Not bad for an old married couple. I suppose it goes without saying I own a bottle now.
